This week I want to discuss a topic very near to my heart. WAVES for Weight Loss^SM. Just a month ago, the site went live just before the first annual Women’s Health Expo at House of Prayer Church in Blairsville, GA. For those of you that don’t know this about me, I have lost just around a 100lbs. and my story is one of the success stories shared on the site. Having went on this journey myself, I have a desire to help others face their struggles with weight loss and reach their goals. I used the WAVES motto and I found it to be easy to remember and easy to live by:

W ~ Water
A ~ Attitude
V ~ Veggies
E ~ Exercise
S ~ Support

The site is huge. It has a lot of features integrated into it that may not be obvious at first. There are articles under each of the main sections: Water, Attitude, Veggies, Exercise and Support as well Tips and Tricks and Measure. These articles help individuals learn how to eat healthy and be healthy the rest of their life! The site also has a forum for users to seek support and give it.

In addition, I added a feature where other companies can help support the cause and the top sponsors get banner ads on the site (You’ll notice my company is one of them). We also did an easy to use toolbar at the top with a search feature to help users find just the information they need and another option to login.

The sidebars vary from page to page and include anything from the daily scripture, ads (to keep the site free), links to contests, new post links, forums topics and more. They also include links to all of the social sites this company is part of like Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

In the footer of the site, there is numerous links to other pages and information, including a page that has a link to sign-up for the newsletter. Please take a moment to check out the site and find out more about this great program. Then, let us know what you think.

I have had the privilege of working with a fantastic group of community minded individuals within the Blairsville Cruisers during the last few months. For those of you that may be unaware, the Blairsville Cruisers is group of local individuals that share two passions. The first one being amazing looking cars and the families, especially the children in the community.

This group hosts their events each year, April though October.  They are most famous for the Cruise-Ins On The Square but with last year’s Block Party venue change to the parking lot of the Blairsville Wal-Mart,this large event is destined to become just as much of a “Must Attend” as the original cruise ins. If you haven’t had an opportunity to attend one of these events, then make plans now to attend during the 2012 season. You will have a great time checking out the vendors,viewing the cars and getting to know the people of the community. There is always a lot to see and do.

The amazing part of this group, is that they use their funding to support several local charities, such as Shop with a Cop, Give a Gift and the Union County food bank as well as making many donations to families in need at times of crisis. Many children in the local community are able to experience the joy of Christmas and have food on their tables because of this organization.

The club is alway open for new, and seeking new members, sponsors, vendors and FANS so, take some time to check out their new site and discover how you can get involved.

Once you view the newly reconsrtucted site, you will find a lot of unique and interactive features. The home page is designed to show, and link to, the two most current Cruiser news articles. It also gives a viewer the opportunity to sign-up for the email list enabling the visitor to stay abreast of current events, happenings and announcements. It is now much easier to find information about upcoming and past events, sponsors, ways to get involved and more. The site now features a photo gallery, showcasing many of the beautiful vehicles found at several past events. there is even a brand new section inwhich visitors may join the site and begin discussions, post vehicles and parts for sale, or just engage in car talk within the function of the forums page.

There are loads of behind the scenes features, as well.  Features that viewers won’t get to see, but will help in the organization and communication of the club itself such as the new member management section. Appalachian Garage Doors contacted us to upgrade their existing website. They wanted a fresh new look but they also wanted it easier for potential clients to contact them for quotes. We went to work on a design that would fit both of these needs.

As a long-term client, we wanted to bring Patrick Construction, Inc. into our newest CMS version and at the same time give them a new look.

We took a designed submitted to us and fixed into something workable. The new look gives the viewer an instant feel for the top quality work the company produces and at the same time conveys the importance of building green. There is a featured home at the top with a scrolling view of several examples of homes the company has built.

The site for Fieldstone Cinemas was a more complicated solution than most. The site had to do more than just provide information. This information had to be presented in a beautiful, easy to understand format with perfect timing.

The now playing page is for the current movies and show times this week. This page provides the user with auto scrolling content and the ability to navigate the information.

Coming Soon provides a dual function with the ability to see show time information for the upcoming week once it has been released. At other times, the page displays poster and trailer information for popular movies soon to be release and showing in the theater. All of this change in information is completely automated by custom code running the background, utilizing php, jQuery, javascript and Ajax.

In addition, the site provides the user with a variety of other useful information from ticket prices, concessions and specials to driving direction and employment applications.
